Otoscopy:

  • acute and chronic otitis externa
  • otitis media
  • foreign bodies
  • myringotomy

Rhinoscopy:

  • Chronic nasal discharge
  • Epistaxis without systemic cause
  • Very acute sneezing and/or pawing at face (suspected nasal FB)
  • Suspected mass
  • Nasal pain

Nasopharyngoscopy 

  • Unexplained URT nose
  • Reverse sneezing
  • Unexplained cough
  • Inability to breathe through nose (e.g. suspect nasopharyngeal stenosis)
  • Nasal discharge
  • Suspected nasopharyngeal polyp
  • Mass evident on advanced imaging

Bronchoscopy:

  • Investigation of chronic cough
  • Focal pulmonary changes on diagnostic imaging
  • Diffuse pulmonary changes on diagnostic imaging
  • Airway sampling to test for infectious causes To assess for and retrieve an respiratory tract foreign body

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy:

  • chronic diarrhoea
  • chronic vomiting
  • unexplained weight loss
  • ongoing acute haematemesis
  • suspected GI ulceration
  • FB retrieval
  • Repeated retching
  • Unexplained ongoing regurgitation
  • Placement of PEG tube
  • Checking O-tube placement

Lower GI endoscopy:

  • Chronic haematochezia
  • Chronic faecal tenesmus
  • Chronic large intestinal diarrhoea
  • Colonic abnormality on diagnostic imaging
  • Chronic small intestinal diarrhoea - esp. cats
  • Distal small intestinal abnormality on diagnostic imaging

Urethroscopy & cystoscopy:

  • Persistent/Recurrent LUT signs
  • assesses for masses, strictures, uroliths in the urethra
  • Persistent/ Recurrent UTI
  • assess anatomy, masses, uroliths in the bladder

Vaginoscopy: 

  • assess anatomy
  • check for masses
  • artificial insemination
