What's so good about MLS® lasers?

I’m often asked what the differences between MLS® laser and other lasers on the market are. After more than 4.5 years of using MLS® in clinical practice and becoming a qualified MLS® trainer, it’s a question I’m always happy to answer!

The key differences in the equipment are the patented dual wavelength delivery and a SAFE peak power of up to 1kW. Let’s go a bit deeper into that.

Dual wavelength delivery

There are lasers on the market delivering more than one wavelength but there are NO other lasers which emit 2 wavelengths simultaneously. MLS® has a dual emission of 808nm and 905nm wavelengths targeting pain, inflammation and swelling. These wavelengths work in unison to give safe, effective and efficient treatments with a penetration depth of around 4cm.

Safe peak power of up to 1kW

MLS® lasers are available in a range of peak powers. Starting with the 25W Mphi, then the 75W Mphi 75, the 270W M-Hi right up to the 1000W MiS with special indications for neuropathy and facial treatments. The patented system SAFELY delivers these peak powers without the risk of thermal damage to your patient – this not only keeps your patients safe but gives the option of ‘point’ mode.

What is ‘point’ mode? With other high-power lasers, you can negate the risk of thermal damage by keeping the head of the laser moving continuously (think hairdryer on a scalp!) but this means you cannot focus on painful areas and it can be difficult to calculate the exact dosage delivered. ‘Point’ mode allows the hand piece to be held stationary, therefore a better depth of penetration is achieved, particularly with the 905nm wavelength which gives a greater analgesic effect. This also allows for the effective the treatment of trigger points (I have been asked in the past if I’m “holding a laser or a magic wand” whilst using this setting!).

In addition to the features above, when you purchase an MLS® laser from Celtic SMR, you get an unparalleled level of customer care.
