Should I have my equipment serviced?

If you own a laser, a scanner, or any piece of medical equipment, you’ve probably been advised to have it serviced on a regular basis. The time between services may vary depending on device or manufacturer but often annual servicing is recommended.

Sometimes servicing can seem unnecessary, particularly when your device is working well and there are no issues to make you think it needs serviced and so you may decide to save your money and put the service off for a while. But is that wise?

Maintaining your equipment is really important for a number of reasons. Some important considerations are:

  1. Warranty
Most equipment comes with a warranty across a pre-determined time period. For example, new MLS lasers have a 2 year warranty. Failing to have your equipment serviced annually can nullify your device warranty.

  2. Insurance
Clinical/clinician insurance policies often require any devices to be serviced in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and failure to do so could render your insurance policy invalid.

  3. Efficacy
Failing to have equipment serviced may mean that you are not getting the most from it! Just because there doesn’t appear to be an issue with your device does not mean it’s working at peak performance. Devices may need to be re-calibration and other check done s to ensure maximum and exacting output.

At Celtic SMR, we are fully equipped and able to service and maintain all the devices we sell across the UK and Ireland, with a dedicated servicing team.

Ultimately, the choice to have a device serviced lies with the clinician but we believe the best decision is to have equipment serviced annually for the reasons listed above. Unsure? We’re happy to help! Contact your account manager for support or drop us an email at sales@celticsmr.co.uk
