Celebrating the brilliant success of our ultrasound CPD events!

Angie Lloyd Jones, ASPIRE UCS, and her gorgeously well behaved dog Lillie-May

CelticSMR Ltd is a rapidly growing imaging company with 30 years of experience in the veterinary and healthcare markets, distributing leading imaging and therapy equipment to UK and Ireland. Committed to providing excellent training and support to our customers coupled with our long-lasting relationship with SonoScape, we are proud to deliver ultrasound training days showcasing the SonoScape ultrasound series and providing technical and clinical training to practitioners.

Recently we have held a couple of brilliant events in partnership with some of the most experienced sonographers in the UK. Using the SonoScape P-series and ProPet range is such a joy, with crystal clear images and easy to navigate controls. The delegates come away with a new-found confidence in, and enthusiasm for sonography; many desperate to get their hands on one of these high-end yet affordable machines.

Echocardiography with Mark Overend

On February 21st we held an Introduction to Echocardiography workshop with Mark A.D. Overend BVMS GP Cert(Cardio), PgC (Small Animal Cardiology Studies), MRCVS RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Cardiology. Mark Overend qualified from Glasgow University in 1990 and since then has held several positions and directorships within practice and the veterinary industry. He was awarded the ESVPS GP Cert in cardiology in 2010, and the PgC (Small Animal Cardiology Studies) (Distinction) from Harper Adams University in 2017. Mark has been running a cardiology and ultrasound referral service for the last 12 years but also lectures to and trains vets all over the UK in the fields of Ultrasound and Cardiology.

The day was full of practical sessions, enabling the delegates to develop their skills at obtaining the standard views and taking accurate measurements. Assisted by the image quality of the ProPet Range, the delegates came away satisfied at having developed a new skill and ‘feeling confident finding views’ and ‘understanding where to measure and overall more confident’. The feedback was nothing less than 10/10!

Abdominal Ultrasound with ASPIRE UCS

On 7th and 8th March we held a 2-day abdominal ultrasound course with ASPIRE UCS Ltd. Angie Lloyd-Jones and Julie Burnage, the instructors at ASPIRE, have over 60 years of experience performing diagnostic ultrasound in human healthcare and the veterinary field between them. They provide competency-based learning through innovative courses and mentorship programmes and have recently written a new set of guidelines for small animal veterinary practitioners undertaking professional ultrasound practice endorsed by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).

The two-day course focused on ultrasound system controls and the now famous ASPIRE UCS 8-step Abdominal Ultrasound Survey. By the end of the two days, the delegates were producing some brilliant images, even of the more elusive structures such as the pancreas and the right adrenal gland, and beginning to develop a holistic and systematic approach to their abdominal ultrasound scans.

We would like to thank our partner SonoScape for the brilliant technology and our instructors Mark Overend and ASPIRE UCS for their continued support and inspirational courses. For further information on the educational material and courses available from CelticSMR visit CelticSMR Academy
